Green is the color of Lady Aurora.

We huddled together on the side of the road.  Hands in our pockets.  Bundled in layers. Tripod ready.  And we waited.   Waited for her to appear so we could capture her full spectrum of colors….use the man-made lens to process what our God-given lens could never see. Finally she came in green-white streaks across the cold, black, winter sky.  She danced, swirled, and swayed brilliantly before our eyes. She always left me speechless…breathless.

This majestic phenomenon that science explains as nothing more than electricity and particles.  But I see so much more.  When I see her dance, I see a Creator with a paintbrush and a dark, black canvas.  I see One who is able to take the darkest of days and paint them with the most incredible, blinding green light to remind us there is always Light to be seen in the cold, lonely, dark places if you are willing to stand there and look for it.  His warm, green breath exhales into that cold, dark sky…into the cold, dark spaces of the human heart.  He speaks light into the darkness and suddenly what could not be seen before is visible now because we stood there and waited.  His beauty is often revealed in the darkest corners of our lives.  In the moments of loneliness, heartache, and sorrow His blinding rays of hope dance before us like Lady Aurora–Intense.  Green.  Breathtaking.  

I stood many nights in Alaska and expected the Lady to show up.  And she did.  My heart stood many nights in cold, dark, lonely places…waited, expected, begged Him to show up.  And He always did.
